The design provides a journey for individuals within the East Asian/South East Asian community, encouraging self-discovery while offering a supportive environment for their identity exploration. Additionally, it aims to welcome individuals from diverse communities, cherishing cultural understanding and appreciation of East Asian/South East Asian culture. Ultimately, the landscape serves as a bridge for cross-cultural exchange, enriching the collective understanding of identities and fostering a sense of unity among communities.
I came up with the concept of using the landscape as a place for people to find out who they are. My concept started with this garden that is in the shape of a butterfly, migrating to Oakland and below here is the Peralta hacienda neighborhood. This girl here is the same girl in the storyboard and she is lost looking for her identity.
For my site design, I want to include an aroma garden, a floating garden and a cultural garden. As they walk across this bridge they enter a multicultural garden that shows through the patterns of these concrete structures showing the diversity of the community.
